David W. Munro

Chief Executive Officer

David is a longtime, highly esteemed leader in the Calgary business community, known for his strategic vision and deep and broad-range business expertise. Throughout his career, he has grown businesses and investments to their highest potential.

David received his Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation in 1970 and started his career at Home Oil in international accounting operations. He left the oil and gas industry to join RGO office supplies where he became a manager and a partner.

In 1983, David became one of the founding shareholders of Gienow Building Products Ltd where he held leadership roles for 27 years. As President and CEO, he led the growth of the company into a world-renowned windows and doors manufacturer known for innovation and integration of high-tech solutions. Gienow grew from 32 employees to over 1,400 employees with multiple manufacturing facilities across Canada. Under his leadership, Gienow successfully completed its initial public offering on the Toronto Stock Exchange in 2004.

David currently serves as CEO of Highfield Investment Group – a diversified investment company with holdings in land development, property management, restaurants & hotels, farming, oil & gas services, and thoroughbred horse racing & breeding.

David also serves as president on the Board of Directors for Calgary’s Hotel Arts, Kensington Riverside Inn, and Select Energy Services.

Adrian W. Munro

President

Adrian W. Munro is the President of Highfield Investment Group, overseeing company operations including the management of joint ventures, partnerships, the land portfolio, and new investment opportunities.  In addition, he manages Highfields’ commercial and industrial portfolio, farming operation, and thoroughbred racing & breeding operation.

Adrian’s ability to see and create value in a variety of market sectors has been vital to Highfield’s sustained success. His foresight takes Highfield businesses to new heights, transforming Highfield into an industry leader.

One of Adrian’s greatest strengths is the ability to solve difficult business problems through creativity and collaboration.  At High Plains Industrial Park, he has developed a strategic partnership with Olds College to implement a sophisticated eco-stormwater management system, the first project in North America to facilitate the research of wetlands in a cold climate environment. This award-winning innovative water management system also provides a superior water supply for water-heavy tenants in the industrial park.

Prior to his tenure with Highfield Investment Group, Adrian held key roles with IBM in the United States, including Lead Financial Analyst for IBM’s Boeing contract, Financial Manager of Central Region Data Centers, and Commercial Contracts Manager. In these roles, he led teams of financial analysts and was responsible for a broad portfolio of commercial contracts.

In addition to his role at Highfield, Adrian serves as president of The Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society, providing leadership and innovation within Canada’s Thoroughbred Breeding industry.

Philip Forster, CPA, CA

Chief Financial Officer

Philip joined Highfield Investment Group in 2014, bringing 35 years of experience in building finance teams, guiding business restructurings and leading financing ventures in a broad range of market sectors. He oversees all of Highfield’s financial operations, providing expert leadership on successful investment and property management initiatives. Philip’s extensive experience and in-depth expertise enables Highfield’s financial stability and provide the foundation for the company’s continued growth in current and emerging market sectors.

Philip was with Ernst & Young for 16 years, including five years as a Partner in the Toronto Business Advisory Group. He also has eleven years of experience in CFO and VP Finance roles with companies in the dental practice management, education, interactive multimedia, technology, and window manufacturing sectors.

For eight years prior to joining Highfield he owned and operated a hurricane product manufacturing and distribution business in Barbados.  In addition to his Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and Chartered Accountant (CA Ont, AB) designations, Philip holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree (Honours) from Queen’s University and is an Accredited Director through the ICSA Chartered Secretaries of  Canada.

Leslie O’Neill

Director, Human Resources

Leslie initially started her career with Dave Munro at Gienow Building Products Ltd., and brings over 25 years of Human Resource experience to the team. She manages the strategic cultural and employee issues and is a key contributor to the teams growth and development.

Leslie was with Gienow for 14 years, developing and leading their Human Resources department from 200 employees to over 1400 across Canada. She also has over 10 years of experience providing HR, Change Management and Operations and Strategy consulting to various companies within the construction, oil and gas and technology industries.

Originally from Newfoundland, Leslie holds a Bachelor of Commerce, Co-Op degree from Memorial University, a trained Thomas International Practitioner and is the proud mom of 3 strong young women.
